No. GhostCase operates on a "Zero-Knowledge" principle. Your encryption happens in your browser, and
your password is never sent to or stored on our servers. If you forget your password, there is no
way to recover your file. This is a guarantee of your data security.
No. Your files never leave your device. The encryption process is performed 100% locally
(client-side) in your browser using WebAssembly technology. Our servers exist only to deliver the
web interface to you; they do not see your files.
Time Lock ensures your file remains locked until a specific future date you define. Even if you know
the password, you cannot open the file before that date and time arrives. This feature is securely
enforced using server-based cryptographic time proofs.
The unique feature of GhostCase is that the generated file is a self-extracting independent vault.
The file size increases for two reasons: 1) Your file is converted to Base64 format embedded within
the HTML (~33% growth), and 2) The decryption engine (WebAssembly) required to open it anywhere is
embedded inside the file.
Yes. Images, videos, PDFs, office documents, or ZIP files; you can encrypt anything regardless of
format. Performance for very large files (e.g., 2GB+) may vary depending on your device's memory
limits.
When "One-Time View" is selected, the file self-destructs after being successfully opened for the
first time. Upon opening, it contacts our server to "burn" the digital ticket associated with that
file. Anyone attempting to open it again (even with the password) will receive a warning that the
file has been destroyed.
Standard encrypted files can be opened OFFLINE. However, if you used **Smart Lock** features like
Time Lock, Expiration, or One-Time View, an internet connection is REQUIRED to verify time/tickets
with the server.
GhostCase uses military-grade encryption standards. Your data is encrypted with **AES-256-GCM**, and
your password is securely hashed using **Argon2id** (a modern memory-hard function). As long as you
use a strong password, cracking your files is practically impossible with current technology.
Expiration ensures the file remains alive only until a specific date. Once the defined period
expires, the file enters an "expired" state and can never be opened again, even if you know the
password.
The HTML file you download is just like any normal file. You can share it via email,
WhatsApp/Telegram, or USB drive. The recipient does not need to install GhostCase; they can open the
file with any modern web browser.
Yes, GhostCase's core encryption and smart lock features are completely free. Our goal is to provide
an accessible, secure privacy tool for everyone.
Absolutely. Browsers on modern Apple (iOS) and Android devices (Safari, Chrome, Firefox) support
WebAssembly technology. You can open your encrypted files seamlessly on your mobile phone or tablet.
