1. Core Philosophy: Zero-Knowledge
GhostCase operates on a "Zero-Knowledge" architecture. This means that no one, including us, can access the content of your files, your encryption keys, or the details of the archives you create.
2. Data Processing and Encryption
Client-Side Processing: All encryption and packing processes are performed directly in your browser, utilizing your device's local processing power.
File Security: Your files never leave your device during the packing process and are never uploaded to our servers in any way.
Key Management: Your encryption keys are derived locally. We do not store your passwords or keys on our servers; therefore, if you forget your password, it is technically impossible for us to recover your data.
3. Smart Locks and Server Verification
When you activate certain advanced features, our system performs a minimal and secure handshake with the server:
- Security Verification: To prevent malicious use, a temporary verification is performed at the start of the process. The data used during this verification is held in memory only for the duration of the session and is permanently destroyed once the process is complete.
- Time Lock: When you use time-lock or file destruction features, our server provides a reliable timestamp. During this process, your file content is not transmitted to the server.
- One-Time View: When this feature is selected, a unique ticket is marked as "used" on the server side once the file is opened. This data is not linked to your identity or your content.
4. Local Data Management
Temporary storage areas used during the processing of large files are kept entirely within private sections allocated to you by your browser. The data in these areas is private to your device and is not shared with third parties.
5. Third-Party and Advertising Policy
No Ads or Trackers: Our application does not contain advertising networks or analytical services that perform data tracking.
Donation-Based Support: The sustainability of the project is maintained through voluntary donations and support from our users.
